Jordan Cyganiewicz/Dudley Police Department

At around 1 AM on Friday morning, May 10th Dudley Police were called to 13 West Main Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash.  The driver had fled the scene on foot.  As officers arrived, they found a 2008 Silver Chevrolet Pickup had struck a utility pole.  The vehicle was heavily damaged, and the pole had caught fire.  As a result, power was lost in the area.  A witness described the operator as a white male with dark jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt.  He had left the scene heading west.  Another witness, who was familiar with the operator, had stopped at the scene and provided the responding officers with the name of the driver.  He was identified as 24-year-old Jordan Cyganiewicz of Dudley.

A short time later, police found Cyganiewicz in the parking lot of Dippin Donuts at the corner of West Main and Village Streets.  He had some minor injuries and was evaluated and refused treatment.  Police say he was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and marked lanes violations.

Cyganiewicz is scheduled to appear this morning in Dudley District Court.   Power has since been restored.
