Driver In Deadly West Brookfield Crash Charged With Second OUI

Just before noon on Monday, April 2nd, West Brookfield Police was dispatched to the intersection of Milk and West Main Streets for a serious 3 car  rollover accident.

As a result of the crash, 2 vehicles ended up in the yard of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish center.  An initial investigation by police showed a vehicle traveling westbound on West Main Street, operated by 54 year old Cindy Bliss of West Brookfield crossed the double yellow line into the eastbound lane, sideswiping one vehicle and striking another vehicle stopped on Milk Street.  The driver of the third vehicle was being operated by 78 year old Alexander Cordy of West Brookfield, who died of his injuries at Bay State Hospital.

Bliss had to be extricated from her vehicle, with the assistance of the North Brookfield Fire Department.  She was taken into custody and charged with motor vehicle homicide, OUI second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

She is being held without bail and will be arraigned in the East Brookfield District Court on Tuesday April 3rd.
