Fatal Pedestrian Accident On Route 20 In Charlton

At around 8:30 PM on Friday night, a 50 year old Charlton man was struck and killed by a car while he was attempting to cross Route 20 between the Gulf gas station and Ted’s Package Store.

Charlton Fire Department personnel initially transported the man to Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, but was later flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester by their LifeFlight helicopter, where he was later pronounced dead.

The woman driver, who was operating a Toyota sedan east on Route 20, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the Charlton Police’s investigation. There is no crosswalk or traffic lights where the man was trying to cross the highway.

The State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section is assisting the Charlton Police with this ongoing investigation.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members.
