Oxford Fire EMS

People have been asking us, what is going on with all the fires in Oxford?  Just after 1PM on Wednesday, Oxford Fire-EMS was dispatched to another structure fire in town.  The blaze was reported in a home in the area of the Clara Barton School.  The fire station received three calls with to report the fire.  Oxford police officers were first to respond to the scene and found  smoke and fire visible.  People were knocking on the doors trying to see if there was anyone home.

The Oxford Fire Department reports the fire was so intense that a back draft occurred forcing the windows to blow out and shatter.  The force of the explosion caused extensive damage to the residence.  Oxford Police closed the road while the Fire Department doused the flames.  Mutual aid was  requested from Auburn, Webster EMS, and Leicester.

A second alarm was struck just before 2PM which brought additional resources from Dudley and Charlton to the scene.  Station coverage was provided by Webster, Millbury, and Paxton.  A fire investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s office Fire Investigation Unit was requested to the scene to assist with the cause and origin of the fire.

None of the residents were home at the time of the fire, and Oxford Fire was able to remove 2 dogs from the home.  They escaped from the yard and had gone missing after the fire, but have both been since located.  There were no injuries reported and the investigation is ongoing, but is not believed to be suspicious in nature.

We have reached out to Oxford’s Fire Department to ask if the latest fires are unusual but they have not responded to our questions.
