Leicester Police report than an alert neighbor reported a man, who appeared to be soliciting door to door, on Tuesday March 6th.

Police say they had not issued any solicitor permits and the vehicle the neighbor reported as being involved had out of state plates which, police say, “made the incident more suspicious.”

The vehicle was located and the operator was taken into custody and charged with being a fugitive from justice.”

The man was wanted in Pennsylvania on a felony fraud charge related to a fraudulent home improvement incident.  It is clear that the man, who was taken into custody and his passenger were soliciting paving contracts.  This type of solicitation is suspect at best as the asphalt plants in Massachusetts are currently closed and the weather is not conducive to this type of work.

On Facebook, Leicester Police thanked the resident who called in the tip.

The 28 year old South Carolina man was held overnight after his arrest and the following morning was transported to the East Brookfield District Court for arraignment.  Police did not release his name or what he originally was wanted for.
