Connecticut State Police Troop D have announced they are looking to locate and arrest 27-year-old Patrick Salvas. Salvas, who was arrested last year after a Webster burglary, is also wanted for another burglary and larceny in Thompson earlier this year. Police say a warrant for his arrest with extradition has been authorized.  The suspect is described as 6 feet 6 inches tall, 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. At around 1 AM on Friday morning, May 10th Dudley Police were called to 13 West Main Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash.  The driver had fled the scene on foot.  As officers arrived, they found a 2008 Silver Chevrolet Pickup had struck a utility pole.  The vehicle was heavily damaged, and the pole had caught fire.  As a result, power was lost in the area.  A witness described the operator as a white male with dark jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt.  He had left the scene heading west.  Another witness, who was familiar with the operator, had stopped at the scene and provided the responding officers with the name of…

On Wednesday afternoon, May 8th, just after 1:30 PM Webster Police were called to a reported fight in the area of Pearl and Wall Street. Officers responded to the area and encountered a male on North Main Street at the intersection of Wall Street. The male was the victim of an apparent stabbing.  Another male with facial injuries consistent with being in a fight was also found nearby. After an initial investigation, Police learned there were two groups fighting, consisting of approximately 10 people. Based upon victim statements, witness statements and other information and evidence gathered, Police decided to focus on 2 suspects on Pearl Street. Charlton Home Fire Under Investigation

On Wednesday afternoon, May 8th at 1 PM, Charlton Fire Department responded to a home on fire at 124 Osgood Road. When crews arrived, they made entry to the structure and fought the flames with an aggressive interior attack.  The fire was deemed under control about an hour later. Mutual aid was brought in from Southbridge, Sturbridge, Auburn, and Spencer.   The cause of the fire is not yet known but is still under investigation by Charlton Fire Department and the District 7 Fire Investigation Unit. There were no injuries reported.  Estimated damage to the home is placed at $150,000.

Polls closed at 8 PM on Monday, and the people of Webster have spoken.  Approximately 1400 residents turned out to elect Earl Gabor and Lisa Kontoes to the 2 open seats on the Webster Board of Selectmen. In this race, it was incumbents Mark Dowgiewicz and Bob Miller against newcomers Earl Gabor and Lisa Kontoes. The official tally was 994 votes for Kontoes, 658 votes for Gabor, followed by 509 for Miller and 393 for Dowgiewicz. A majority of voters we spoke to feel Webster is headed in the right direction under current Town Administrator Doug Willardson, however many were looking for new faces to bring fresh ideas to the board, believing the incumbents had…

Planet Fitness, with a location at 120 East Main Street in Webster, is offering teenagers age 15 to 18 to workout for free as part of their nationwide Teen Summer Challenge. The program was announced on Friday and will run from Wednesday, May 15th through Sunday, September 1st.  In addition to a free summertime gym membership, free fitness classes specifically for teenagers will also be available taught by certified fitness trainers.
