On Tuesday March 20th, Detectives from the Southbridge Police Department were conducting surveillance of a home after receiving tips about crack cocaine being sold inside. At approximately 7:30PM police observed 2 suspected distributors of narcotics leave the home on Glenwood Avenue and drive to a local business complex.  While the pair waited in the parking lot, a second vehicle with Rhode Island license plates approach the parked vehicle.  Detectives observed an exchange between the subjects and believed a narcotics transaction had just taken place. While patrolling Route 395 on Thursday, March 8th at 9PM, Massachusetts State Police Troopers pulled up behind a Hyundai Genesis that was in the breakdown lane.  Thinking the driver might need assistance Troopers began to investigate. The driver, only identified as a 41 year old Willimantic, CT man, was in the vehicle with several open beer bottles.  After a search of the vehicle and further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of over 37 grams of cocaine. The man, who’s name was not released, was placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Barracks in Sturbridge.  He was held on $5040 cash bail and charged with possession of alcohol open container…

The Webster Five Foundation has made a generous donation of $150,000 to the Friends of the Chester C. Corbin Library.  The funds will be used for building enhancements and to provide additional services to Webster’s new Gladys E. Kelly Library. The Friends of the Chester C. Corbin Library provides volunteer and financial support to the Webster Public Library, aiming to foster public interest and provide financial aid for special library programming outside of the town of Webster’s annual library budget. Few details are known at this time, but the body of Grafton teenager Alexandra Valoras was discovered on Monday on the Massachusetts Turnpike.  She was an engineering student scheduled to graduate from Blackstone Valley Regional Technical High School in 2019. The Massachusetts State Police and Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.  District Attorney Joe Early, Jr. told The Grafton News the body was found under the North Street overpass in Grafton.  The medical examiner’s office will determine the manner of death in the coming days. Friday marked 2 years since Massachusetts State Police Trooper Thomas Clardy was killed in the line of duty during a 2016 traffic stop on the Massachusetts Turnpike. Members of the State Police, as well as Governor Charlie Baker, and The Clardy Family gathered on Friday as the 44 year old father of seven was remembered in a bridge renaming ceremony at the State Police Barracks in Charlton.  The Route 49 bridge over the Pike will now be named “The Trooper Thomas L.
