On Tuesday, March 6th just before noontime, a Connecticut State Police Trooper was sent to investigate a home on Main Street in Danielson.  Police were checking on an individual believed to be wanted on an active out of state warrant.  Upon the trooper’s arrival, 37 year old James “Blizz” Alston was found to have an active extraditable arrest warrant from Winter Haven, Florida. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest warrant was active for the charge of domestic violence of battery by strangulation.  Alston was taken into custody and was charged with being a fugitive from justice.  He was transported back to Troop D, where he was processed and held on a $100,000 cash…

Crews from the Oxford Fire Department were on the scene of a fully engulfed truck fire on the ramp to Exit 3 from Route 395 on Wednesday afternoon.  Heavy black smoke could be seen billowing from the vehicle.  There were no injuries reported.  The truck fire was extinguished and towed away from the scene.  Traffic is now returning to normal. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has officially posted ‘No Left Turn’ signs at the end of the driveway at the Treehouse Brewery and on Route 20 at the east end of Zorba’s Restaurant parking lot.  The Charlton Police Department say that these turn restrictions are in place effective immediately, and will be enforced by both the Charlton Police Department and also Massachusetts State Police. This action takes place after several serious motor vehicle crashes in this area in recent months.

On Monday, March 5th around 5PM the Leicester Police Department was called to Walmart on Route 20 for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Officers were able to locate the suspect who had been seen pushing a shopping cart full of baby formula and tools out of the store into the parking lot without paying.  The 46 year old Worcester man was arrested and charged with shoplifting and larceny over $250.

Just after 8PM on Monday, March 5th, Connecticut State Police Troop D arrested a 32 year old Putnam woman after a motor vehicle stop on Water Street in Danielson. Troopers interviewed the driver and observed several indicators of criminal activity that led them to believe narcotics may be in the car.  With the assistance of K-9 officer Ambrie, a narcotic sniffing Labrador, a plastic bag containing percocet tablets were located in the vehicle.  Dominique Gremo was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics.  She was released on a $2,500 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on March 21st. A Life Flight Medical Helicopter was dispatched to mile marker 80 on the Massachusetts Turnpike near the Charlton Rest Stop after a serious crash on Monday afternoon.  As of 6pm on Monday, traffic is still very slow approaching the accident as 2 lanes are closed, leaving only one lane getting by. Traffic on Route 20 is also extremely slow due to people trying to use that as an alternate route.  Massachusetts State Police say 3 people were injured in the single vehicle crash.  Thank you to the anonymous listener for the photos shared with permission.

On Friday, March 2nd after students were dismissed from school, the Worcester Police received notice of a threat involving a possible shooting at a school in Worcester.  At the time, the information was very vague.  Since then, detectives spent the weekend investigating and tracked down more information.  After an extensive investigation, they focused on a 14 year old student who attends the South High School.
