This is a real bummer. One of the area’s largest flea markets has closed. Dudley’s Do-Right Flea Market is now a thing of the past. “Due to a series of unfortunate events with the building, the flea market has closed for good” and will not be able to re-open in the Steven’s Mill Building. A message posted on the store’s Facebook page on January 7th read, “The building is frozen and flea market is closed.” It has not re-opened since then. On Wednesday evening at around 6:45 PM, Troopers from Connecticut State Police’s Troop D were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence in Danielson. The disturbance was reportedly between a female victim and a male later identified as 41 year old Kevin Horton. When the State Police were contacted, Horton fled the residence on foot. Horton was located a short time later on Main Street in Danielson and police attempted to stop him for questioning. On December 17th, Spencer Police announced they were searching for Stephen Patchen in the woods off Paxton Road. Around 9AM Wednesday morning the fugitive turned himself into Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield with his attorney. Patchen had been on the run since mid-December and Detectives from Spencer working with the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Unit have been searching for him. Upon his appearance in court he was held for a dangerous hearing at a later date.

On Tuesday afternoon, around 2:20PM, a male entered the North Brookfield Savings Bank, located on West Main Street in West Brookfield, and demanded cash. While a weapon was threatened, none was shown. The male was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Bank employees were able to provide police with an accurate description of the vehicle with license plate number. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen. Several police departments, including the Brookfield, North Brookfield, Warren, Sturbridge, Monson, Holland, Brimfield and the Massachusetts State Police responded to the bank to assist.
