The Oxford Police Department is warning residents of town and nearby communities to be on the lookout for scammers going door to door.

Police first became aware of this scam over the weekend.  A group of youths claiming to be raising funds for the “Autistic Department” in our local schools were going door to door with a red bucket and collecting money.  At this time it appears the people were not actually accepting donations for a real charity or organization.

If you are approached by these or similar people requesting money, please call your local police department and give as much information as you can.  If you live in Oxford you may contact Sergeant Jeromy Grniet at (508)987-0156 or jgrniet@town.oxford.ma.us.

If you believe you were a victim of this scam please report the information to police at (508)987-0156.

Oxford Police say the only people in town that they have granted permission to solicit door to door at this time are Petro Home Services and Weed Man Lawn Care.
