Just after 4PM on Friday, March 1st, a State Police Trooper assigned to the Sturbridge Barracks observed a 2017 Nissan Altima speeding on Route 84 eastbound prior to the Massachusetts Turnpike.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, instead of pulling over, the driver fled at a high rate of speed.  Police say the pursuit continued onto The MassPike eastbound and then to Route 146.  The driver then attempted to take Exit 12 off Route 146 in Worcester well above the speed limit, when the vehicle’s hood opened, blocking the driver’s view, causing him to crash.
Police were able to arrest 28 year old Genareo Brice of Chester, PA who was discovered to be a fugitive from justice wanted in Pennsylvania.
He was booked at the State Police Sturbridge barracks on the fugitive charges, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, speeding and breakdown lane violation.  Brice is being held until his arraignment on Monday at Dudley District Court.  Arrangements will be made for his transportation back to Pennsylvania.
