Southbridge Police – David Guzman/Sage Guzman/Robert Bernard

On Tuesday March 20th, Detectives from the Southbridge Police Department were conducting surveillance of a home after receiving tips about crack cocaine being sold inside.

At approximately 7:30PM police observed 2 suspected distributors of narcotics leave the home on Glenwood Avenue and drive to a local business complex.  While the pair waited in the parking lot, a second vehicle with Rhode Island license plates approach the parked vehicle.  Detectives observed an exchange between the subjects and believed a narcotics transaction had just taken place.

Detectives arrested the operator of the vehicle from Rhode Island and identified him as 32 year old Robert Bernard of Bristol, RI.  Police recovered 1 gram of suspected crack cocaine and 2 strips of suspected Suboxone from his vehicle.

The operator of the first vehicle was pulled over on Hamilton Street, and the driver was identified as 21 year old David Guzman, with female passenger, 21 year old Sage Guzman.

Detectives applied for a search warrant for the home at 46 Glenwood Avenue in Southbridge and recovered the approximately 50 grams of suspected crack cocaine packaged for distribution, 15 suspected Oxycodone pills, approximately 6 ounces of marijuana packaged for distribution, 2 containers of Suboxone strips and working scales and other packaging materials commonly used for the distribution of narcotics.

All 3 suspects were charged with a variety of drug related offenses and were held at Southbridge Police Headquarters pending bail and will be arraignment in Dudley District Court on Wednesday March 21st.
