Southbridge Woman Arrested For Theft During Mother’s Funeral

A Southbridge woman has been charged with breaking into her dead mother’s home on Friday and stealing a safe with upwards of $90,000 worth of valuables inside.  Police went to check on the house when other family members were concerned Alyce Davenport hadn’t shown up to her mother’s funeral.

As a result of the investigation, Warren Police with help from Sturbridge Police and Massachusetts State Police arrested Davenport and Diron Conyers in connection with the theft.

The pair were both charged with breaking and entering into a depository, larceny from a building, larceny of more than $250 and malicious destruction to property.  Both are being held on $90,000 bail were arraigned in East Brookfield District Court today.

Warren Police executed a search warrant and were able to recover some of the stolen property.
