Investigators from The National Weather Service have confirmed two early morning tornadoes touched down in the area on Thursday, July 26th.  Both storms were rated EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita scale with estimated winds at about 100 miles per hour.

One of the twisters stayed on the ground for approximately 4 miles beginning in Douglas, going through Uxbridge and fading out in Northbridge, while a second one popped up in Upton at around the same time.

The strong winds damaged homes, brought down trees and power lines in several local towns.  There were no injuries reported.

This is the second tornado to hit the area this month, another one hit Ashford, Connecticut last week during a strong strong thunderstorm that also brought flooding rains to local roads.
