The Webster Police Department, along with family and friends of Officer Mike Lee, placed a cross in his memory at the 11.2 mile marker on Route 395 South in Auburn on Monday morning.  This was the scene of the fatal car crash that claimed his life last October.

Officer Lee was only 38 years old and a 10 year veteran of the Webster Police Department.  There was a temporary cross placed at that location shortly after the crash, but the permanent marker installed on Monday was handmade by Eric Oikle.

On Facebook the department posted that it was an emotional day.  “Words cannot express the emotions that were felt this morning, as we placed the marker in his memory.”

Placing the cross on the side of the highway was made easier thanks to assistance from the Massachusetts State Police.  Officers provided a safety detail while dozens of people paid their respects at the scene.  Another local company, AA Transportation donated a school bus so that everyone could safely to and from the location in one vehicle.
