Leicester Police responded to a call for a motor vehicle that slid off Chapel Street at 7:45 on Monday morning.  It was a close call for the driver the 2007 Ford Fusion first struck a tree and then went nose first over an embankment stopping just inches away from going underwater in a nearby pond.  Police say the driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was treated at the scene for a minor injury. A second crash due to the winter weather also occurred in Leicester this morning, about 40 minutes earlier on Baldwin Street.  That accident involved a Jeep Cherokee and a Ford Escape which collided sending the Jeep into a tree. …

In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 4th, Oxford Fire Department and EMS crews, along with Massachusetts State Police, responded to the scene of a single vehicle rollover on Route 395 in Oxford.  There was significant damage to the guardrail and vehicle, but no word yet on the condition of the occupants of the vehicle.

On Friday, March 2nd at 1:30PM, two vehicles traveling on Route 20 in Charlton were involved in a road rage incident.  Police are still looking for the owner of a red vehicle that got away from the scene. Charlton Police say the initial confrontation occurred near Carpenter Hill Road and continued east on Route 20 where the one of the vehicles ended up going off the road.  Occupants of the second vehicle involved began to throw rocks at the first, resulting in a shattered window. Last week a Leicester resident turned in a bone to police that was found in the woods by the resident’s dog.  Apparently, this kind of occurrence is not quite as rare as you would think. Leicester Police say they “occasionally” receive calls like this, and as always they are working closely with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  Although they have not successfully identified what kind of creature the bone came from, they have determined the bone is from a “non-human.” Leicester Police thanked the resident for turning it in.  On Facebook, the department stated, “the job of a police officer is never boring…you never know what the next call will bring.”

At some point on Sunday morning a truck carrying construction supplies spilled out a large amount of screws onto the road in the area of Elm Street and Lebanon Street in Southbridge.  Police are asking motorists to use caution in that area or avoid it as crews begin to clean up from the spill. If you have information about the truck that might have lost its load, you are asked to call police. Crews from the Webster Fire Department extinguished a fire in an empty school mini-bus on Friday morning, March 2nd. It was reported at 9:23 AM according to a Facebook post from the South Worcester County Communications Center. The bus owned and operated by AA Transportation at 175 Thompson Road suffered extensive smoke and water damage. Fire officials have not determined the cause of the fire yet.

Police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation into the homicides of a mother and her three children inside their home at 10 Old Warren Road, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. The bodies of 38 year old Sara Bermudez, 8 year old Madison Bermudez, 6 year old James Bermudez and 2 year old Michael Bermudez, were found after police were called to the home on Thursday afternoon. Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen a discarded plastic yellow fuel can to call the State Police Dispatch Center at (508) 867-1170.  The District Attorney’s office says that yellow is usually the color of cans used to store diesel fuel.  Police…

On Wednesday, February 28th just after 8PM, Southbridge Police were patrolling the streets “to assist in crime prevention” after several complaints were received recently in regards to narcotic sales. Officers witnessed 51 year old Ramon Rosado-Garcia walking on Cross Street towards Hamilton Street with a female subject.  Rosado-Garcia was known to officers due to previous run-ins with the law, including an October 2017 arrest in which more than 300 bags of heroin were found in his possession. Officers had conversation with him and recovered 2 clear bags with tie knots that contained a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine that was packaged for distribution.  Officers also recovered more than $2,000 in cash, suspected to…

The heavy rain and gusty winds that have been hammering the area all day were to blame for a car driving off of the road, crashing into a home and a parked vehicle in Auburn. The fire department says hydroplaning on Pakachoag Street was likely the cause.  Luckily, there were no injuries reported.  The building inspector is responding to the scene on Friday afternoon to check the structural integrity of the home.
