The Walmart Company has decided to close the last remaining Sam’s Club in Massachusetts in the coming weeks. In a statement, a spokesperson for the company said, “After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy. Closing clubs is never easy and we’re committed to working with impacted members and associates through this transition.” This means the Sam’s Club located at 1 Tobias Boland Way in Worcester will close by January 26th.  Some employees may be transferred to local Walmart stores but nothing official has been announced. Please keep an eye out for this missing person.  Friends and family of Justin Ramos have not heard from him or seen him since Sunday night. His last known whereabouts was on Valley Hill Drive in Worcester on January 7th.  According to friends, he left with a group of people and left his cell phone at home.  This is unusual for Justin to leave home for several days without being in contact with friends or family. Worcester Police have been notified and his mother asks that if you see him to please call her at (508) 847-9229.  Justin is in his late 20s and is most likely off his medication for the past few days. …

National Grid has announced they are planning to request a reduction in its pending natural gas distribution rate proposal with the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. When federal tax reform legislation was signed into law in late December, the company began assessing how reductions in corporate tax rates could benefit customers. The company announced today it will update its rate proposal with the DPU for natural gas rates that will go into effect in October 2018.  This will reduce the original $87 million request to an estimated $51 million, a savings of about $36 million. On December 27, 2017, Officers from the Auburn Police Department responded to 10 White Terrace for a report of a 16 year old female who was being held against her will and possibly tortured. When officers arrived, they located the victim and identified the possible suspects and secured the residence as a crime scene. After an investigation, police determined that a home invasion had occurred earlier that day, where two men entered the home demanding marijuana.  Once inside, the victims were assaulted and threatened and at least three shots were fired from a firearm possessed by one of the suspects. A Southbridge woman has been charged with breaking into her dead mother’s home on Friday and stealing a safe with upwards of $90,000 worth of valuables inside.  Police went to check on the house when other family members were concerned Alyce Davenport hadn’t shown up to her mother’s funeral. As a result of the investigation, Warren Police with help from Sturbridge Police and Massachusetts State Police arrested Davenport and Diron Conyers in connection with the theft. The pair were both charged with breaking and entering into a depository, larceny from a building, larceny of more than $250 and malicious destruction to property.  Both are being held on $90,000 bail were arraigned in East Brookfield District Court today.…

Uxbridge Police are warning residents and visitors to remember to lock your vehicles, and keep important items out of sight from potential burglars.  Last night and this morning they they received several phone calls for regarding breaking and entering into cars.    Most of the thefts occured in the area of Manor House, Oak & Granite Street in Uxbridge. Congratulations are in order for Webster Police Officer Robert Rockwood.  He was recognized tonight by the Webster Board of Selectmen for an outstanding job apprehending a domestic violence suspect last month.  The suspect had attacked his girlfriend and mother with a knife before trying to harm himself.  During the incident, Officer Rockwood showed great courage and disregard for his own safety when he breached the room the victim and suspect were in.  Doing this allowed him to place the suspect in custoday which allowed Webster EMS personnel to attend to the victim and rush her to the hospital.
