In an effort to continue their public safety partnership with citizens and businesses, The Sturbridge Police Department has announced a new initiative called the Sturbridge Police Camera Registry Program. This new program will help residents and business owners aid Sturbridge Police in solving crimes and various neighborhood problems. The camera registry program will allow residents and business owners to voluntarily register their video surveillance systems with the Sturbridge Police Department. Webster’s Public School Administrative offices have left their old location at the Filmer School on East Main Street for a new office in the back of Bartlett High School. The new address is 77 Poland Street. According to a post on Facebook, the new front entrance is next to the loading dock. Students from Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton converted unused classroom space into the new office space. Most people know that it is against the law to drive with an open container of alcohol in their vehicle, but The Sturbridge Police Department wants to remind you that it is also unlawful to possess an open container of marijuana in your vehicle as well. On Friday morning one unlucky motorist found that out the hard way after getting pulled over for going 41 MPH in a 30 MPH zone, failing to have a valid inspection sticker and the additional $500 fine for not knowing the law. Millbury police are searching for a driver failed to stop for a school bus, and almost hit a mother and her 7 year old child last Friday afternoon on Riverlin Street.
