Ron San Angelo, Town Manager of Southbridge has released his town’s second annual report.  Residents are able to read it and find out what each town department has accomplished over the last 2 years. It was just after midnight on Sunday night when Webster resident Ewerton Santos was getting ready for bed and noticed some suspicious activity in his neighborhood.  He had just spent the day setting up Christmas lights and decorations in his yard so that he and his family and neighbors could get into the holiday spirit. The Webster Water Department will be performing insurance required fire flow tests on Wednesday, December 6th throughout town starting at 9 AM. You may experience discolored water or a brief loss of pressure due to these tests.  Please prepare to have a small backup water supply in case discolored water takes place. It was 18 years ago today, 6 Worcester Firefighters lost their lives battling a huge 5 alarm fire at the former Worcester Cold Storage Building that was located at 266 Franklin Street. The fire was started accidentally by two homeless people who were staying in the building and knocked over a candle.  They left the scene without reporting the fire.  The 6-story building, previously used as a meat cold storage facility, had no windows above the ground floor and no fire detection or suppression systems. The Southbridge Police Department has issued a warning to residents after they received several reports of a suspicious male driving a white passenger van going door to door trying to sell cleaning products. Southbridge Police say he is sometimes accompanied by a female and may have other occupants inside the van. The Southbridge Police Department says they have not issued a permit for anyone to go door to door selling cleaning products and they ask that you notify them immediately if you are approached this way. Blake Shelton recently shared a special message to students of Warren’s Quabog Regional Middle &  High School.  The message was included in a longer tribute video to 3 students who died in a car accident in West Brookfield on November 6th. In the video, Blake says, “I can understand how you guys feel.  It’s the worst possible feeling.  It’s confusion.  It’s anger.  It’s just an overall brokenness that’s just gonna take a lot of time to heal.” Shelton’s brother died in a car accident back in 1990.  He found out about the local teens who were killed through his mother, who grew up with a member of Quaboag’s school committee.
