Did you know there is another election coming up on Tuesday here in Webster?  The last time voters headed to the polls in May was to choose a member of the Board of Selectmen.  This time it is a statewide primary election, so voters across the commonwealth will be making their selections of who will end up on the ballot in November’s mid-term election. All registered voters will be eligible to cast their ballot in Webster right next to town hall. Investigators are asking for the public’s help after a body was found on the westbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike near exit 10, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. The body, which has not been identified, was reported at approximately 10PM on Wednesday, August 29th. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the State Police Troop C headquarters at (508) 829-8326 or Auburn Police at (508) 832-7777. The Webster and Dudley Fire Departments responded to a possible car fire just after 11PM on Saturday, August 26th.  Few details have been made public, but Dudley Police are investigating.  The car reportedly sheared off a fire hydrant and landed in the yard near a building at 32 Chase Avenue in Dudley. There was no one found in the car when first responders arrived.  It is believed the driver fled the scene.  Bystanders used extinguishers on the smoking car prior to their arrival.  No word on if the driver has been found as of Sunday morning. In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 25th, Oxford Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a vehicle on the train tracks on Millbury Road.  Police say the train was able to stop prior to crashing into the car.  Few details of the crash were released, but the driver was arrested for operating under the influence and will be arraigned in Dudley District Court on Monday. A retired Auburn elementary school music teacher was arraigned on Thursday, August 23rd in Worcester Superior Court on indictments alleging aggravated sexual abuse of a child, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. Stephen Jaszek, 62, of South Hadley, is charged with four counts of aggravated rape of a child and one count of aggravated indecent assault and battery on a child. The incidents allegedly occurred 9 to 10 years ago at the former Julia Bancroft School during school hours.  Auburn Police are continuing to investigate the case. Earlier this month, on August 6th at around 2:30PM, Sturbridge Police say the woman pictured above entered Yankee Spirits on Route 20 in Sturbridge and concealed several bottles of wine, totaling $2300 and left without paying for them.
