A 27 year old man with ties to Fitchburg and Dudley, accused of hitting and dragging a state trooper while fleeing a traffic stop on Chase Avenue in Webster on Friday, has been arrested by police. The trooper was treated and released for minor injuries at a local hospital.  At least 1 helicopter was sent to Webster to help the search for the green 2008 Honda Pilot, owned by the passenger, a 40 year old Dudley woman.   A ‘Be On The Lookout’ was also issued for all surrounding police departments. Ownership of the Pawtucket Red Sox have made it official.  The team is moving to Worcester and changing their name from the Paw Sox to the Woo Sox. As first announced yesterday, when Guy Glodis spilled the beans a little too early, the major announcement and rumors were correct. On Friday, August 17th, The Pawtucket Red Sox signed a Letter of Intent to build an innovative downtown ballpark in Worcester that would be scheduled to open in 2021.  PawSox Chairman Larry Lucchino signed the letter in a ceremony at Worcester’s City Hall with Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Mayor Joe Petty, and City Manager Ed Augustus. Massachusetts State Police units are currently searching for suspects and a vehicle that fled a motor vehicle stop on Chase Avenue in Webster.  As the driver fled, the sport utility vehicle dragged the Trooper who had pulled it over for a short distance. The Trooper stopped the SUV, with a male driver and female passenger, in the area of 26 Chase Avenue in Webster at approximately 12:25 PM on Friday, August 17th.   On Thursday night, August 16th at around 9:30 PM, Officer Michael O’Leary of the Webster Police Department was patrolling the area when he observed a license plate with no registration sticker affixed to it.  Once the plate was looked up, he found the registration was reported stolen and had been revoked due to insurance cancellation. After pulling the vehicle over and approaching the driver, a scale and money was found stuffed between the driver’s seat and center console. The Dudley Police Department’s Facebook page reports a mail scam has been showing up in residents’ mailboxes this week.  It was reported to the Town Assessor’s office on Thursday afternoon.  A Dudley resident received an official looking piece of mail with a request for payment of an $86 service fee to obtain a copy of their current grant deed and property assessment profile. The letter and information in the letter did not come from the town of Dudley, and you are encouraged not to submit payment to them or give them any of your personal information. All it took was a picture of a ‘W’ Red Sox hat with this caption to cause a stir, “Big announcement coming tomorrow, and celebration party hosted by Tim Murray and the Worcester Chamber tomorrow at the Ballot Box (4-8pm).” The Ballot Box is Glodis’ bar located in Kelly Square in Worcester.  Nothing official on the Worcester County Chamber of Commerce’s website or Facebook page yet. On Monday, August 13th, just after 5:30AM a 2 alarm fire was reported at 32 West Dudley Road in Dudley.  At 0541 hours today an alarm was transmitted for a possible building fire at number 32 West Dudley Rd.  When firefighters arrived the blaze was already well involved in the attic and roof.  Mutual aid arrived and an aggressive interior attack was made by responders. The Dudley Fire Department says a third alarm had to be sounded because of water supply issues in the area.  Mutual aid was utilized from Southbridge, Charlton, Quinebaug, Webster, Douglas, and Webster EMS. We first learned about Tommie Lee Goddard after he turned himself in to Southbridge Police on August 2nd after he was charged in several break-ins. On Friday, August 10th Detectives from the Southbridge Police Department showed up at his apartment at 115 High Street with a search warrant, due to an ongoing investigation of breaking and entering into motor vehicles.  Detectives also had an arrest warrant issued by Dudley District Court for his apprehension for committing numerous motor vehicle breaks and the subsequent larceny of property. As a result of the search warrant, Goddard was immediately taken into custody on the arrest warrant without incident.  Several items were also secured as evidence which were believed…
