Oxford Fire-EMS responded to a single vehicle accident on Route 20 Westbound near Scmitt Equipment on Friday afternoon. There were no reports of injuries. Police and Fire officials remind you to use caution when traveling on local roads in the event that black ice could be hard to spot.

Police observed a vehicle idling on Mechanic Street near Rose Street with an unknown male in the driver’s seat. Read MoreDue to a structure fire at an apartment building at 12 Schofield Avenue in Dudley this morning, the section of Schofield Avenue (Route 12) between Brandon Road and West Main Street was closed to traffic for several hours. Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route. The fire began around 2AM in the multi-family home. All residents were able to get out safely. Crews from Webster, Southbridge and other communities assisted in putting out the fire. There were no injuries reported and the cause is under investigation by the Dudley Fire Department.

It was reported that a white dual wheel utility vehicle was traveling northbound on I-395 in the left lane passing another motorist when it suddenly turned right to get off Exit 35. That vehicle struck another vehicle causing it to lose control and hit the guardrail. The truck exited at exit 35 (Route 6 eastbound) and evaded the scene.
