Webster Police were called to an apartment building at 291 Main Street for a reported break-in in progress on May 5th at 6:30PM. The suspect, later identified as 46 year old Carlos Valdes of 297 Main Street was seen climbing into the apartment through an open window. Police say this was the second time they had dealt with Valdes that day. As officers knocked on the door, Valdes exited the apartment through a window and jumped over to the adjacent building where he lives at 297 Main Street. Police say several people forced their way into an apartment located at 12 Green Street shortly after midnight. Police say there was a confrontation between a man and the people who broke in. The suspects fled the scene on foot after the shooting. The shooting victim was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester and is expected to survive. The investigation is ongoing with assistance from The Massachusetts State Police, the Webster and Oxford Police Departments. A video was taken of a male, later identified as 28-year-old Jonathan Martin of 11 Harris Street. During his Monday news conference, the governor said all outdoor restrictions will be lifted starting May 1. Over the weekend, state officials announced many machines came back online on Saturday morning. Getting cars inspected had not been possible since March 30th due to a malware attack.
