Webster residents who plan to vote in the May 6th election will have until Tuesday, April 16th to register. You can sign up online at the Secretary of State’s website, or at the town clerk’s office located in Webster Town Hall at 350 Main Street. In 2019, voters will choose to fill 2 seats on the Board of Selectmen. The race includes incumbents Mark Dowgiewicz and Robert Miller, running against newcomers Earl Gabor and Lisa Kontoes. Read MoreOn Sunday morning a tree fell on power lines on West Main Street near Rite Aid causing Dudley Police to close the road to through traffic at this time. National Grid crews are en route to restore power to approximately 200 customers. Currently, West Main Street is closed between Williams Street and Schofield Avenue. Power was expected to be restored by 3PM. Dudley Police announced the road had re-opened just after 5PM.

After checking details on the license plate, the car was determined to be reported stolen from Charlton. The officer found the vehicle to still be warm, suggesting it may have been recently abandoned. Webster Police K9 Bandit was brought to the scene to assist with the search. A short time later 44 year old Joseph Carpenter of Worcester was found hiding in a tree house behind a home on Laura Way. Police say the driver of the Subaru reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the car to cross over the center line and hit a utility pole and a stone wall. Oxford Police and Fire-EMS were called to the scene and transported 2 people to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The ramp has since re-opened to traffic. The crash happened around 5AM when it hit the bridge for Route 146, causing the truck to roll over. The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
