Alert neighbors who heard a house alarm going off on Riverside Drive in Webster helped Webster Police locate the suspect from the break-in on Tuesday, April 24th. It was 8:30 in the morning when police responded to 2 Riverside Drive. Neighbors reported seeing 2 people running towards St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the area of nearby construction pits. After a brief search, the pair was located on Normandy Avenue, with items believed to have been stolen from the home. Zola was involved with an incident in Worcester on March 27th where he was arrested. Extradition was granted shortly after, and Massachusetts State Police were able to conduct a traffic stop on him and take him in again. Read MoreThe Webster Police Department, along with family and friends of Officer Mike Lee, placed a cross in his memory at the 11.2 mile marker on Route 395 South in Auburn on Monday morning. This was the scene of the fatal car crash that claimed his life last October. Officer Lee was only 38 years old and a 10 year veteran of the Webster Police Department. Read MoreA fire that claimed the life of a Sturbridge woman on Sunday likely began in a microwave. The blaze broke out on Fairgrounds Road, but whether the microwave was faulty, or the food inside the microwave ignited is still under investigation. The State Fire Marshal, Worcester District Attorney’s Office, Sturbridge Fire Department and Sturbridge Police Department were on scene on Sunday afternoon. The elderly woman, whose name has not been released, was rescued from the apartment but later died at a local hospital. Mutual aid from Brimfield, Brookfield, Southbridge and Spencer were brought in to help extinguish the fire.
