The town of Webster has announced a grant of $30,000 has been awarded from the Massachusetts Historical Commission. The money will be used for design work to renovate the Town Hall that was built in 1927. An architect is expected to be hired and will review and design any upgrades needed, including possible work in the auditorium and clock tower. Once the plans are complete, the town has the option to re-apply to the commission for further assistance with the construction of the project. Webster’s Town Hall, located at 350 Main Street, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The accident happened on Thursday afternoon. An employee of the store said, “Everyone is okay here at the store, shaken but not broken!” There were no injuries reported to the driver, or inside the store to employees or customers. Oxford Police say a 16 year old juvenile male has been charged in connection with 3 of those incidents in town. The 2 vehicle accident closed the roadway for a short time as a white GMC van and black Ford Escape were removed. Police say she was taken to another town where she may have been sexually assaulted. It is believed that the assault may have taken place in over the line in Connecticut. Read MoreOn Tuesday, May 28th, just before noon, Trooper Steven LaRocco assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Sturbridge Barracks, stopped a black Toyota Corolla on Route 395 North for operating without a front license plate. After a search of the vehicle, the rear passenger, 25-year-old Eliezer Delvalle of Webster was arrested for illegally possessing a firearm, among other charges. Well, some detective work by the Douglas Police Department has answered that question. Police say on Sunday, May 12th they were alerted to a boat that was dumped on the side of Webster Street (Route 16) near the State Forest.
