It was the talk of the town for a week or so after people online were wondering, who may have left their boat on the side of the road.  Well, some detective work by the Douglas Police Department has answered that question.

Police say on Sunday, May 12th they were alerted to a boat that was dumped on the side of Webster Street (Route 16) near the State Forest.  With the help of several witnesses and a video of the vehicle prior to the dumping, Officers were able to identify the person who left it there.

As a result, 34-year-old Michael Sullivan of Athol will be charged in Uxbridge District Court for Illegal Dumping (Littering).

Douglas Police say the boat has since been removed at Sullivan’s expense.

A surveillance photo of the truck and boat that helped crack the case is below.
