Southbridge Police have announced the arrest of two local men following an alleged drug sale on Everett Street in that town on Thursday. Detectives approached one of the vehicles involved in the transaction with one of the occupants reportedly holding a syringe containing heroin.  Police say, the suspect, 25-year-old Nicholas Harrington of Holland, attempted to discard the heroin before being placed into custody.  Police say he was carrying additional needles and packets of suspected heroin at the time of his arrest. An investigation by Massachusetts State Police Troopers ended in the parking lot of East Main Plaza in Webster on Thursday night.  Police say at around 8PM on September 5th, Troopers followed a vehicle to the shopping center where they witnessed what they believed to be a narcotics transaction take place. According to police, a female suspect exited the vehicle they had followed, and Troopers watched her get into another car for a short time, and return to the original vehicle.  The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Monica Fairbanks of Webster.  Also in that vehicle was 31-year-old Carly Fifield of Webster and 46-year-old Richard Loosemore of Holland.  Police say they found 3 packets of heroin belonging…

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Webster Police have announced a road closure for a section of Cudworth Road beginning on Monday, August 26th. No thru traffic will be allowed at any time while repairs are made to the bridge that carries Cudworth Road over Route 395 in Oxford.  Delays are expected for those who normally get on or off Route 395 at Exit 2 or 3. Detour signs will be posted to help motorists find their way around.  All on and off ramps will remain open, however there will be no access to the bridge for an estimated 30 days. A third human case of EEE, or eastern equine encephalitis has been diagnosed in a person from Massachusetts, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.  The man, over the age of 60 is believed to have been exposed to the virus in northern Franklin County.  Additionally, one horse from Uxbridge and another from Mendon have also tested positive for the virus. Officials say even though the virus is rare, it is still serious and may affect people of all ages.  EEE is generally spread to humans through the bite of a mosquito infected with the virus and can cause severe illness or death. Over $3,000 worth of marijuana and $900 in cash was found during a traffic stop on Route 16 in Webster this week.  Webster Police say that an officer spotted a driver with an outstanding warrant near Honey Farms on Tuesday, August 20th around 10AM. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 28-year-old Ruben Viruet-Stevens of Worcester.  While being placed in custody, the officer noticed a large amount of money and marijuana shavings scattered around the front seats of the car. A passenger, 34-year-old Allan Putelis of May Street in Webster, was also removed from the vehicle. The Webster Police Department have intercepted a kilogram of cocaine that was sent through the U.S. Postal Service. In a press release, Chief of Police Mike Shaw said the department received an anonymous tip.  Detective Christopher Trainor, who is also a member of the DEA High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force in Worcester, conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of 46-year-old Lisandro Bermudez Negron of Springfield. After striking a parked car and a brief struggle, officers were able to arrest Negron on Granite Street in Webster.  He was charged with trafficking cocaine over 200 grams. It estimated to be worth $30,000. Negron was held on $5040 bail at the Webster Police Department.…

The Dudley Police Department was visited by the folks at Venture Community Services in Sturbridge on Thursday afternoon with a generous donation of backpacks for local students. Police have announced that two 16-year-old juveniles, one male and one female, have been arrested in connection to a recent armed robbery at Patriot Gas in Dudley.  The pair was taken into custody by the Connecticut State Police. Police say the male is from Hamden, CT and the female is believed to be from Canterbury, CT.  Both will face charges in Connecticut in connection with several similar robberies there, according to Dudley Police.
