On Friday, November 2nd, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. visited with police chiefs and command staff officers of the South Worcester County Drug and Counter Crime Task Force. District Attorney Early presented the group with a check for $6,000 to assist the organization with their drug and counter crime enforcement efforts in the Southern Worcester County area, including police departments in Webster, Oxford, Dudley, Charlton, and Southbrige. Read MoreOn Wednesday evening, October 31st, Millbury Police and Fire Departments were called to the area around Providence Street by the National Grid electric substation to search for a missing woman in her 70s. The search ended overnight and was picked up again this morning just after 11AM, when the police and fire departments were assisted with the Massachusetts State Police Airwing. Her body was found in the Blackstone River this morning. Foul play is not suspected at this time. Her name or cause of death has not been released.

The vehicle that was suspected of striking the cars was found stopped about a half mile from the scene on Pleasant Street in Webster. 29 year old Lauren Soucy from Webster was seen walking around the area, and police identified her as the driver of the vehicle that left the crash scene. Police believe she was under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. The Yarmouth Police Department says Gina Giovangelo, who is 8 months pregnant is wanted on an outstanding warrant by the Barnstable Superior Court. Police say Giovangelo is a convicted felon and has a wide ranging criminal record in Massachusetts which includes homicide while driving intoxicated in 2010. Most recently, she was stopped by Yarmouth Police in August 2018 and reportedly gave false information regarding her identity. Giovangelo is wanted again after not complying with court orders. Troopers were called to a home in Thompson in October 2016 to investigate a robbery. At that time, numerous firearms were reported stolen. The last Take-Back Day brought in almost 1 million pounds of unused or expired prescription medication, nationwide. Police say a male is believed to have violated a restraining order and assaulted a female party. The woman was physically assaulted and threatened with a knife. Heavy smoke could be seen in the area and damage appears to be extensive. The Oxford Fire Department says the original call came in just after 3PM. The residents were not home at the time.
