In a letter sent out to students and parents of the Dudley-Charlton School Department on Thursday, Superintendent Gregg Desto made the public aware that he had been notified that a driver found an empty .22 caliber firearm clip in the glove compartment of a bus that had been transporting students to and from school. West Brookfield Police have been on the scene of a “major incident” for most of the afternoon and evening on Thursday. THE LAKE 940 has learned that 4 bodies were found burned inside of a home located at 10 Old Warren Road. District Attorney Joe Early Jr’s office reports the bodies were of an adult woman, and her three children ages 7, 5 and 2. A member of the Worcester Police Vice Squad received a tip that a female was selling heroin in the Main South area of the city. The officer was provided a cell phone number that belonged to the dealer. The female suspect was later identified as 36 year old Maritza Colon of 16 Lake Street in Webster. The undercover officer called the drug dealer to arrange a purchase of heroin just after 9AM. An agreement was made to meet and the officer was directed to make the purchase on Chandler Street in Worcester. Police set up surveillance in near Chandler and Irving Streets. THE LAKE 940 has learned a Dudley Highway Department employee is out of a job after being charged with assaulting a co-worker. Daniel Gion Jr. of Webster was arraigned last week in Dudley District Court on a single count of assault and battery relating to an incident that happened earlier this year. Court records show he was released on personal recognizance and is expected back in court on April 4th. The arrest was in connection to an incident in the took place inside the breakroom of the highway department in January. The police report shows Gion slapped a fellow employee during an argument. Extra security, including a Charlton Police officer, was in place at Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School on Wednesday after a student was overheard making a comment that involved possibly shooting up the school. The remark was allegedly made in a hallway on Tuesday afternoon. Concerned students who overheard it reported it to authorities at the school, and the police later got involved. As word spread across campus, and throughout the 10 towns that Bay Path serves, parents began calling the school for more information. If you have plans drive on Route 146 this weekend, you might need to find an alternate route. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has a planned demolition of the Woonsocket Hill Road Bridge that will require the closure of Route 146 North and South in North Smithfield. The highway closure began Friday night and is expected to be entirely closed until 10AM on Saturday. Beginning at 10AM on Saturday, one lane on Route 146 North will re-open. Saturday at 2PM both northbound lanes will open. Saturday at 10PM both southbound lanes should re-open. Of course due to the inclement weather there could be a delay to any of this road work. West Street in Auburn was closed for a few hours on Wednesday afternoon while the fire crews battled fire in a garbage truck. Auburn’s Police and Fire Departments responded to the fully engulfed truck near the Hardscrabble Road location of Casella Waste Systems. There were no injuries reported and no word on a cause for the fire.

Auburn Police executed a search warrant at 4 Buron Terrace on Tuesday. It was obtained after a report of cats and dogs living in filthy, unsanitary conditions. The home has been the subject of 11 prior complaints filed with the Board of Health since 1993. A total of 61 cats and dogs, including two litters of puppies and four litters of kittens, were removed from the home and will be medically evaluated. The residence was deemed to be unfit for human habitation and the property was posted as such after the residents were re-located. The owners of the home have been charged with animal cruelty and operating a kennel without a license. The police department said…
