Last week, Dudley Police were en route to a possible breaking and entering of a vacant house in town. Once they arrived, two suspects fled the scene on foot on Pleasant Street towards Webster. After police were able to apprehend one suspect, the second eluded officers for a short time. Dudley officers were unable to locate that suspect until Webster’s K-9 Officer Bandit was called to the scene. The first took place at an apartment on 330 Hamilton Street, the second outside in a vehicle believed to be used to transport narcotics throughout the area. More than 66 grams of suspected cocaine packaged for distribution was found, along with a digital scale, approximately $6,000 in cash and other packaging materials were seized. Southbridge Police tell THE LAKE 940 that 41-year-old Jose Valentin and 43-year-old Yazmin Torres-Maldonado were charged with trafficking cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and other offenses. The fire was first spotted around 9:30PM and crews worked to try to get people out of the home. Scanner reports indicated someone was trapped on the second floor. As the fire struck a third alarm, the conditions inside became too dangerous and firefighters had to exit the building. Read MoreCharlton Police confirm there were no serious injuries in an early morning rollover crash at the intersection of Bond and Colburn Roads this morning (May 19th). According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, “The stop sign was knocked down and the vehicle ended up on its side.” Traffic, including several school buses, were re-routed while the crash was investigated and the vehicle was removed. The cause of the crash has not been released, and no word yet on if any charges are pending for the driver of the vehicle.

A local resident who wished to remain anonymous told THE LAKE 940 that this suspect is wanted in connection with a wallet being stolen from a vehicle on May 16th. The incident happened on Nelson Street in Webster at around 5:30 AM. Read MoreThe town of Oxford and Aquarion Water Company has announced a water main replacement project is scheduled to begin on May 17th. The construction will take place on Church Street and is expected to be completed by the end of June. Final paving will then be scheduled shortly thereafter.
