First responders from the Dudley Police and EMS department responded to a serious car vs. motorcycle crash at 5:30 PM on Tuesday afternoon, August 3.  The accident took place at the intersection of Warsaw Avenue and George Street. The names of the men involved have not been made public.  When police arrived they found the operator of the motorcycle lying in the road, conscious and alert, suffering from serious injuries.  He was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester and remains in stable condition. The town of Webster has announced a triathlon is returning to the area this weekend, and for the safety of the racers, Memorial Beach will be closed for much of Saturday, August 7, and Sunday, August 8. The boat ramp is scheduled to be opened on Saturday at 11 AM and Sunday at 3 PM but don’t expect to go for a dip in the water to cool down. Information on the triathlon can be found here, including registering to take part in the race or to be a volunteer. Webster Police have announced the arrest of a 31-year-old Webster man on several gun-related offenses. This morning at 6 AM with help from the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team, an arrest warrant was served on Trent Nicholopoulos at 43 Hillside Avenue. Police say the charges include possession of a firearm without an FID Card, and a firearm violation with 3 prior violent drug crimes, stemming from the suspect’s involvement in a shooting at the Hartley Street Apartments in January.  The shooter in that incident, David Hallaman, was arrested by Putnam Police in February. Evidence to implicate Nicholopoulos in the Webster shooting was received by detectives from the state crime lab.  The suspect was…

The Webster Public School Department has announced they are taking part in a federally-funded child nutrition program to provide Summer meals to children.  Kids who rely on school meals during the school year can struggle to get enough to eat during the summer months.  Free meals served at schools in the Summer can help. The program is administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education with support from anti-hunger organizations Project Bread and the Child Nutrition Outreach Program. Oxford Resident and Bay Path Regional High School Teacher Geoffrey Esper has outdone himself again.  Competing in the 2021 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island, he came in second place, only to the legend, Joey Chestnut. We first met Geoffrey in 2018 when he came in fourth place in that year’s competition “only” eating 41 that year.  In 2019, he finished in third place consuming 49 hot dogs.  This year Esper downed 50, leaving him as the runner-up to Chestnut, who set a new personal record of 76 hot dogs (and buns) in 10 minutes.  Chestnut earned his 14th win, earning $10,000 and the world-famous mustard belt.  Esper’s 2nd prize checks in at…

K-9 ROXY LOCATES MISSING JUVENILE GIRL Early yesterday morning Trooper John Doherty, with his K-9 Partner Roxy, received a call from State Police-Millbury that the Millbury Police Department was seeking K-9 assistance for the search of a female juvenile. Trooper Doherty responded to the house where the female was last seen and conducted an area check, then deployed K-9 Roxy on a track from a scent-article. K-9 Roxy tracked down a street before pulling right onto an intersecting roadway, then toward the woodline.
