Dudley Police say at 7:20 AM on Friday, September 3rd a two-car head-on crash took place on Route 197, near 75 West Main Street. Officers found a blue Chevrolet Malibu in the roadway and a red Ford Explorer off the road. Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage and airbags had deployed.  Police say the Explorer was travelling eastbound, operated by a 54-year-old female from Dudley.  The Malibu was travelling westbound, operated by a 20-year-old male from Worcester. The female was treated and released at the scene. The male had apparently suffered some serious injuries and he was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester.  His condition is currently unknown. Monday, August 30th is the first day of school in Webster for grades 1 through 12.  In a post on Twitter, Superintendent of Webster Public Schools, Dr. Ruthann Petruno-Goguen wrote, “We are excited to welcome our students back and we have many great things planned!” One item of note on the school calendar is another Covid-19 vaccination clinic coming to Bartlett High School on September 15th, open to any community member as well as students and staff. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has been busy installing new signage across the state to alert drivers of new exit ramp numbers since last year.  The heavily traveled highways like Routes 93, 95, 128, 146, and MassPike have been completed, and now it is time to start working on our local highways, Routes 395 and 290. UPDATE – AUGUST 18TH 5PM – John Connor has been found.  Webster Police say no further information is available at this time. Webster Police Detectives are currently working on a missing person investigation.  Police say 57-year-old John Connor was last seen on August 10th, 2021 in the area of Blueberry Hill in Webster.  It was reported that he left his wallet and phone at home after an argument with his family.  He is described as approximately 6 feet tall, heavyset and bald. Police believe Connor may be distraught, and somewhere in the area of the Douglas State Forest. Anyone with information is asked to contact Webster Police Detectives at 508-943-1212.

It was an active morning for area police as the Worcester Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force and Southern Worcester County Drug and Counter Crime Task Force were in Webster to assist with an arrest. While taking 39-year-old Jarquin Dyshawn Baldwin into custody for an outstanding warrant, he escaped and fled on foot.  Police say a foot pursuit began with help from the Massachusetts State Police Canine Unit joining to search for the suspect.  After a search, Baldwin was taken into custody at Price Chopper in Webster. In addition to Baldwin’s arrest warrant, he is also being charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, larceny, and resisting arrest.  He is currently being held at the Webster Police…

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) along with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have a nationwide emergency alert test scheduled for Wednesday, August 11 at 2:20 PM. Test messages will be broadcast on all TV and Radio stations in America, as well as cell phones that have opted in to receive emergency messages. The purpose of this test is to ensure that the alert systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level. Periodic testing of public alert and warning systems helps to assess the operational readiness of alerting infrastructure and to identify any needed technological and administrative improvements. Webster Police detectives are currently investigating an “apparent shooting” that took place this evening at 72 Pleasant Street in town.  THE LAKE 940 has learned a female victim was transported to UMass Medical Center with minor injuries and is expected to survive. First responders from the Dudley Police and EMS department responded to a serious car vs. motorcycle crash at 5:30 PM on Tuesday afternoon, August 3.  The accident took place at the intersection of Warsaw Avenue and George Street. The names of the men involved have not been made public.  When police arrived they found the operator of the motorcycle lying in the road, conscious and alert, suffering from serious injuries.  He was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester and remains in stable condition. The town of Webster has announced a triathlon is returning to the area this weekend, and for the safety of the racers, Memorial Beach will be closed for much of Saturday, August 7, and Sunday, August 8. The boat ramp is scheduled to be opened on Saturday at 11 AM and Sunday at 3 PM but don’t expect to go for a dip in the water to cool down.
