The town of Webster has announced a triathlon is returning to the area this weekend, and for the safety of the racers, Memorial Beach will be closed for much of Saturday, August 7, and Sunday, August 8.

The boat ramp is scheduled to be opened on Saturday at 11 AM and Sunday at 3 PM but don’t expect to go for a dip in the water to cool down.

Information on the triathlon can be found here, including registering to take part in the race or to be a volunteer.

All of the swim courses will take place in Webster Lake at Memorial Beach Park.  All swims will be a beach start and finish on either side of the beach house.   The bike courses will start and end at the transition area located at Memorial Beach Park.  Roads will be open to traffic so athletes should be aware of their surroundings at all times.  The run courses will take off from Memorial Beach, with directions to follow.

If you are not planning on going to the beach this weekend but will be traveling through Webster, be on the lookout for additional bikers and runners on some roadways.
