Local Churches Change Routines To Battle Flu Outbreak

The flu has been particularly widespread this Winter, leading many churches in the area to change their normal routines to try to battle the outbreak of the virus.  Catholic dioceses around the country have released guidelines in an effort to keep parishioners healthy.

Nearby Bishops have sent out advisories on how people should protect themselves against exposure to influenza.  This includes waving instead of shaking hands during the traditional sign of peace, and also passing on drinking from the chalice during communion.

It is also recommended to wash your hands before and after church, or even bring hand sanitizer with you to use before or after mass.  Another tip, try to keep your hands away from your face, nose and eyes, especially after coming into contact with others.
