2 Arrested After Kilo Of Cocaine Found During Sturbridge Traffic Stop
Massachusetts State Police pulled over a speeding vehicle on Route 84 in Sturbridge just before 3AM on Friday, February 22nd. Police say the 2012 Honda Civic also made a unsafe lane changes while traveling eastbound.
After a short investigation, the Trooper determined the driver, 32 year old Juan Cruceta from Bronx, NY did not have a valid license, and his passenger, 30 year old Christopher Hammond, also of Bronx, NY, only possessed a learner’s permit.
Police say both men were acting nervous and had “trouble recalling basic details about their travel plans.”
A search of the vehicle located $4,000 in cash on Cruceta and two large packages containing more than 1 kilogram of a substance believed to be cocaine in the trunk of the car.
Cruceta and Hammond were booked at State Police Barracks in Sturbridge and were both charged with trafficking in cocaine over 200 grams and conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws, and Cruceta was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and marked lanes violation.
Both men were scheduled to be arraigned in Dudley District Court yesterday morning.
