Southbridge Woman Arrested For Biting Boyfriend

On Wednesday, March 14th at 8:30PM Southbridge Police officers were called to the second floor apartment of 116 Charlton Street to investigate a domestic disturbance.  When officers arrived they noticed a large amount of blood on the floor.  Officers spoke with a 49 year man who was bleeding heavily from his forehead.  The male subject had a large area of skin missing from his forehead and his skull was visible.  The victim was transported to Harrington Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

During further investigation, officers determined the victim was just involved in a domestic disturbance with his live-in girlfriend.  The victim informed police the woman, 46 year old Joyce Owens bit him on his forehead during an argument causing serious injury.  She then fled the apartment on foot.  Officers searched the area, and located her a short time later laying on a dirt floor in the basement of the building.  Owens was placed under arrest without further incident and transported to police headquarters.

Owens was charged with mayhem and domestic assault and battery and was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Thursday, March 15th and held on bail.
