Lighter Shaped Like Grenade Sparks Bomb Scare In Auburn

It was quite the morning at the Casella Trash and Recycling Plant on Hardscrabble Road in Auburn on Thursday.
Auburn Police and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad were called to the scene after a grenade was found at the plant. It was later determined the grenade was actually a butane lighter.
The lighter was likely brought to the facility on a trash truck, but it is unclear where it was picked up from. Auburn Police originally isolated the truck and the device and let the public know that there was no danger to the public.
