Plainfield Shooting Suspect Found Dead
On December 19 at approximately 3:15 PM, members of the Plainfield Police Department were dispatched to the area of Deibler Lane at its intersection with Black Hill Road in the Central Village section of Plainfield for a reported male with a firearm.
Upon arrival, Plainfield Police officers, assisted by the Connecticut State Police, conducted an immediate search of the area. The male was subsequently located in the wooded area and there was an exchange of gunfire. The male subsequently fled on foot into the woods.
The Plainfield Police Department Nixle Alert System was activated, which advised all residents in that area to shelter in place. This included Black Hill Road, Jackson Road, Picket Road, Diebler Lane, and Karen Lane. The State Police Tactical Team responded to the scene in order to conduct a search for the male with the assistance of the Plainfield Police Drone and Trooper One. The suspect was subsequently located deceased in the woods. No police officers were injured during this incident.
At the request of the Danielson States Attorney’s Office, Detectives from Central District Major Crime responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.
As of 7:30PM police updated residents and said the suspect was no longer a threat to the area, but the area around Black Hill Road/Route 14 was still closed and residents are asked to stay away from the area.
