Their tweet says it all, “#100 is ours!” as Webster’s Bartlett High School Indians were victorious over the Southbridge Pioneers for the 100th annual Thanksgiving Day football rivalry. Bartlett upset Southbridge by a score of 46 to 36 in the game held at McMahon Field in Southbridge.  This year’s match-up was significantly milder than last year, when the game was played with temperatures in the teens when Southbridge failed to score. Congratulations are in order for Bartlett quarterback Logan Paranto for being named most valuable player after achieving 4 touchdowns during the game.  Donald Speight was named defensive player of the game. Massachusetts State Police are investigating a pedestrian crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Millbury that has resulted the death of local woman. Police say at approximately 11 PM on Friday night, a 2013 Nissan Altima was in a single-car crash on the eastbound side of Route 90 in Millbury at the 95.6 mile marker.  The driver and lone occupant of the Altima, a 27-year-old Douglas woman, exited her car.  The woman attempted to cross the highway on foot and was struck by a car traveling westbound. The victim was found in the westbound side of the highway near the median.  She was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, where she was pronounced dead. According…

The town of Dudley will officially dedicate the newly renovated and expanded fire station located at 128 West Main Street, on Saturday, October 19th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house. Fire Chief Dean Kochanowski says, “We’re inviting everyone in town to come and tour our new facility.” The fire station upgrades started in 2017 after being approved by voters.  About $6.5 million was borrowed thanks to a proposition 2 ½ debt exclusion.  The original firehouse was built in 1960. At that time, the building consisted of a small garage-like structure that housed a few fire trucks and an all-volunteer staff.  In 1983, a second floor was added to accommodate a meeting room and kitchen. …

Just after 11AM on Friday, crews were called to South Pond after getting a call that the Indian Princess riverboat had run aground.  Webster Police say 60 senior citizens from Wilmington were on board at the time.  Police and fire department boats arrived at the scene where first responders helped to evacuate the occupants to the shore. The boat was blown off course due to high winds, and no injuries were reported.  Police say everyone was “in great spirits and hope they return to resume their voyage at another time.” It is not known if the boat sustained any damage.  It is expected to be towed away in the near future. Webster Police are investigating a reported stabbing that took place at 1AM on Friday.  Officers arrived to Mario’s Showplace on Thompson Road to find one victim suffering from a non life threatening wound to his abdomen.  Police say it appears an argument broke out as patrons were leaving the club.  The male victim was transported to a local hospital. Police are working to identify the suspect, who fled the scene.  The victim was uncooperative with police, and the incident is still under investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to call Webster Police at (508) 943-1212.
