The elusive peacock who has been roaming the streets of Uxbridge for the last week was almost captured several times but met an untimely end on Thursday morning.

He was nicknamed ‘Waldo’ and had people wondering where he was at all times of the day.  The unofficial mascot for the town of Uxbridge was hit by a car and killed.

A message on his official Facebook page sent “Special thanks to the Uxbridge Police Department for taking so many calls every day, and to Kevin the Animal Control Officer.”

His owner Paige Eastman Dickinson posted, “My heart is broken. Thank you everyone, for all your kindness.”

A sad end to an amazing adventure for a little bird.

Rest in peace, Waldo.

Dear all,Thank you so much for the good times. I know you all cared very much about me and I enjoyed your company too….
