Sam’s Club In Worcester To Close On January 26th
The Walmart Company has decided to close the last remaining Sam’s Club in Massachusetts in the coming weeks.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the company said, “After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy. Closing clubs is never easy and we’re committed to working with impacted members and associates through this transition.”
This means the Sam’s Club located at 1 Tobias Boland Way in Worcester will close by January 26th. Some employees may be transferred to local Walmart stores but nothing official has been announced.
An employee of the Worcester store that we spoke to said he learned of the news this morning when he showed up to work and there was a notice on the door announcing the closure.
This news comes on the same day that officials with Walmart announced they were boosting their minimum wage to $11.00 per hour and handing out bonuses to workers across the country.
