State Police Arrest 3 From Ohio In Charlton

On Friday, June 1st at about 2 PM, Massachusetts State Police stopped a vehicle on The MassPike in Charlton that led to the arrest of 3 people from Ohio.

A Trooper from the Sturbridge Barracks observed a 2017 Hyundai Accent traveling slowly in the left lane of Route 90 Eastbound in Sturbridge,  causing other vehicles to pass it on the right.  The vehicle then reportedly moved to the middle lane, almost causing an accident.

Trooper Scott Shea pulled the vehicle over at the Charlton rest area and determined that the operator was driving without a license or a valid rental contract for the car.  Upon further investigation, a .38 caliber revolver and five rounds of ammunition were also located in the vehicle.

The operator, a 36 year old man from Canton, Ohio and the other two occupants of the vehicle, a 27 year old man from Akron, Ohio and a 26 year old woman from Canton, Ohio were placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and improper storage of a firearm.

The two males were additionally charged with being felons in possession of a firearm and the driver was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, left lane violation, and marked lanes violation.

The driver was held on $5,000 bail, while the male and female passengers were held on $2,000, and $250 respectively. All three will be arraigned in Dudley District Court on Monday.
