Massachusetts State Police has announced a wanted suspect in Southbridge was apprehended with help from a K-9 officer and his handler.

On Friday, July 26th Trooper Alex Berry was in the area heading home when he heard Southbridge Police officers were involved in a foot pursuit.  He and K-9 Indy arrived on the scene to help search for a fugitive who had warrants for breaking and entering.   Indy acquired the suspect’s scent and began tracking north through several yards until the trail was lost.  The search was called off for a short time until another Southbridge officer observed the suspect as a passenger in a vehicle and pulled it over.  The suspect attempted to flee on foot again and Trooper Berry and Indy returned to locate the suspect.

Police say Trooper Berry made several commands for the suspect to surrender to no avail.  Trooper Berry released Indy, who quickly caught up to the suspect and apprehended him.  The fugitive was taken into custody and booked by the Southbridge Police Department.

The suspect’s name has not been released.
