Tornado Confirmed In Northeastern CT on Tuesday
The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado briefly touched down in Ashford, CT on Tuesday afternoon. Ashford is located about 15 miles west of Putnam, and approximately 20 miles southwest of Webster.
On the Enhanced Fujita scale, the tornado, ranked an EF0, had estimated wind speeds between 65 and 85 mph. The storm caused roof damage to some buildings and also uprooted trees in its path.
The same weather system brought flooding rains to the rest of the region, as roads turned into rivers in Oxford and Worcester.
According to weather records, yesterday’s storm is the 5th tornado in Connecticut so far in 2018.
