Webster Man Killed In Route 56 Crash

One person has died and second individual sustained serious  injuries in a motor vehicle crash at approximately 6:55 AM on Saturday morning in Leicester.

Leicester Police Chief James Hurley says that the crash was a head on collision on Route 56 near King Street.  One of the vehicles involved was a 2008 Nissan which went off the roadway as a result of the crash and partially rolled over.  The driver of that vehicle was identified as 51 year old Todd Williams of Webster.  He had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Anthony Vickers Jr. of Rochdale was the driver of the second car, a 1993 Cadillac, was transported to UMass Medical Center.

The Life Flight helicopter was called to the scene and landed a short distance from the crash site.  The medical crew from the helicopter worked with Leicester emergency crews providing medical care.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the Leicester Police Department with assistance from the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s, Accident Reconstruction Teamand the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

Route 56 was closed for several hours following the accident while crews cleared the scene and were collecting evidence.

This is the second fatal crash on Route 56 to take the life of a Webster resident.  Earlier this month Andrew Guay was killed in a head-on collision in Paxton.
