It’s hard to believe, but Summer is winding down, and now it’s time to start thinking about the kids going back to school.

The Dudley Police Department was visited by the folks at Venture Community Services in Sturbridge on Thursday afternoon with a generous donation of backpacks for local students.

Venture Community Services maintains group homes and provides care and assistance to disabled adults in the South County area.  The residents were assisted by staff members to purchase school supplies and assemble 21 complete backpacks for local students.  Dudley Police Chief Steve Wojnar tells THE LAKE 940, “The Dudley Police Department thanks everyone for their generosity and efforts and plans to work with the local schools to distribute these to students in need to start the school year off on a good note.”
