Webster Police are currently diverting eastbound traffic on East Main Street near McDonalds after a serious motor vehicle accident was reported on Monday afternoon.  Police say westbound traffic is flowing slowly. Police suggest detouring through Lincoln Street and avoiding the area if possible for the near future. On Sunday, August 5th at 1:30AM, Massachusetts State Police arrested a Worcester man on Route 84 in Sturbridge after a motor vehicle stop. Troopers pulled over a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Route 84 eastbound for motor vehicle infractions.  Further investigation revealed that the operator, 23 year old Miguel Portela of Worcester, was unlicensed to operate a motor vehicle and he was placed under arrest. An inventory of the vehicle prior to towing led to the discovery of a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun with a fully loaded, large capacity magazine. Portela was transported to the State Police Barracks in Sturbridge and charged with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity weapon…

The cleanup has begun throughout Webster and parts of Dudley after an EF-1 tornado with winds of up to 110 miles per hour tore through downtown on Saturday morning. Luckily, only one person was treated for minor injuries when a tree fell on her car as she was driving on Main Street. Main Street was blocked off as first responders dealt with flooding and damage, and residents looked on as the roof of at least one building was torn off. The National Weather Service is investigating a tornado that touched down on Main Street in Webster on Saturday morning.  Meteorologists confirmed the tornado on Saturday afternoon, but they are still surveying the damage and may take another day or two to determine wind speeds and path of the storm. A Tornado Warning was issued for parts of Northeastern Connecticut, Southern Worcester County and Northern Rhode Island from about 9:30 to 10:45 this morning. In the early morning hours of August 2nd, The Coventry, RI Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a home invasion at 30 Parker Street.  A female resident heard noises in her home, and confronted a male inside, who forced her out of his way and ran from the scene. No injuries were sustained as a result from the assault, but the homeowner did report several items were stolen from the home, including prescription medications, jewelry, and a laptop. As a result of an investigation, police found a first floor window had been broken by the suspect, and blood was located in the area.  A vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was abandoned…
