  During a Worcester Police prostitution sting, a Webster man was placed under arrest after a drug transaction took place with an undercover officer. On Wednesday evening, October 3rd, members of the Vice Squad conducted surveillance in the Main South area.  The sting operation lead to the arrest of 11 men charged with offering to engage in sex for a fee. Worcester Police say at approximately 8:45 PM, a female decoy officer was approached by a male, later identified as 46 year old Michael MacDonald of Webster, offered to sell the undercover officer crack cocaine. A 911 call was placed just after 11PM on Wednesday, October 3rd reporting a person had been stabbed in the chest and stomach at an address on Windy Ridge Road in Webster. Police arrived to find a female, hysterical in the street, and a male victim outside covered in blood. Police say the male and female were in bed together when the suspect, 39 year old James Kelly of Webster entered the basement for what he thought was a prearranged meeting with the female to watch television.  When he went upstairs and found them, Kelly assaulted the female and then stabbed the male and fled the residence.   Deputy Chief Mike Shaw of the Webster Police Department tells THE LAKE 940 that on Wednesday afternoon, at 1:40PM, a crash involving a motorcycle and an automobile was reported to the Southern Worcester County Communications Center.  Webster Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the scene. The operator of the car, a 26 year old female from Webster and the operator of the motorcycle, a 61 year old male from Sutton, were transported to local hospitals.  Neither injuries appeared to be life threatening according to police. The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting the Webster Police Department in investigating the crash. Some local police departments took part in National Coffee With A Cop Day on Wednesday, October 3rd. Officers from The Webster Police Department were stationed at 5 locations between 7 and 10AM, including The Webster Police Station, 357 Main Street; both Dunkin Donuts locations at 128 Main Street and 170 Thompson Road, and both Honey Dew locations at 113 East Main Street and 188 Gore Road. In Oxford, officers were at N&J Donuts at 315 Main Street from 9 until 11AM, and Dudley Police held theirs on the campus of Nichols College with Chief Steve Wojnar and school resource officer Phil Megas. On Tuesday, October 2nd, around 1:30AM, first responders in Dudley were dispatched to a motor vehicle that had driven off a boat ramp near 23 Pattison Avenue. The driver and passengers of the vehicle were able to safely escape the car that had been partially submerged. Members of The District 7 Dive Team were called to assist in removing the vehicle from the water, and help the tow company recover the submerged car.  After about 2 hours of hard work in the pouring rain, the car was removed around 3:30AM. Oxford Fire Department also helped out with mutual aid.  No word on if any charges will be made in connection to this crash. No injuries…

A series of crashes on Route 395 on Sunday night were caused on a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction. Massachusetts State Police say 54 year old Michael Schold of Webster was driving his truck northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway hitting several cars between exits 1 and 4. It took crews several hours to clear debris from the roadway and return traffic to normal. Schold was arraigned Monday in Dudley District Court on his third charge of driving under the influence and one count of negligent driving.  More charges may be filed at a later date after the investigation by local and state police are finished. There were no serious injuries reported.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on October 3rd.  This test was originally going to take place on September 20th but was postponed due to Hurricane Florence. The WEA portion of the test will begin at 2:18 PM Eastern time, meaning most cellular telephones, including all smart phones will receive a ‘Presidential Alert’ with a test message.  There will be a loud audio tone and there is no way to opt out of it. Two minutes later all radio and television stations will activate a nationwide EAS test at 2:20 PM. …

It was 40 years ago today, September 30th, 1978, 4 year old Andrew Amato disappeared from a wooded area of Webster.  He has not been seen since. According to news reports at the time, Andrew had been playing with his 6 year old cousin and 7 year old sister in the vicinity of Ash Street.  It is believed Andrew and his cousin walked down a path which led to a deeper portion of woods where Andrew tripped and dropped his favorite toy, and refused to return home without it. His cousin had gone off to get help from an adult, but when she got back to the location, Andrew was nowhere to be found.  The…

The Southborough Police Department responded to the Fay School, located at 48 Main Street on Friday, September 21st to escort an employee who had been terminated off of the property. According to a press release, 51 year old David Pepper of Webster had made statements that were considered to be threatening toward other staff members at the school. After a police investigation, a Criminal Application was obtained in Westborough District Court charging Pepper with Chapter 269 Section 14, Terroristic Threat, which was served by the Webster Police Department.
