2 Alarm Fire Rips Through Charlton Home
At 11:30 on Tuesday evening, crews from Charlton Fire Department were dispatched to a house fire at 136 Freeman Road. The blaze quickly became a 2 alarm fire with mutual aid brought in from Auburn, Oxford and Southbridge.
Within 10 minutes the fire was already showing through the roof of the unoccupied building. The fire department says the bulk of the fire was located on the upper level of the home as crews worked to knock it down from the inside.
The home is listed as having 5 bedrooms and over 5,000 square feet of living space, last sold in 2013.
The fire was placed under control at 12:19AM. National Grid was called to scene and cut electrical power to the home. The 2nd floor sustained significant fire damage estimated at about $100,000.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
