3 Dead In Route 84 Sturbridge Crash
Massachusetts State Police have identified the 3 people who were killed in a wrong-way crash on Route 84 in Sturbridge.
Troopers responded to the incident around 6PM on Saturday evening and found a 2009 Nissan Murano that was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Route 84 in the vicinity of Exit 6B. The Nissan struck a 2011 Volvo XC60 traveling east.
The crash claimed the lives of the driver of the Nissan, 40-year-old Deyja Jackson of Worcester, and the driver and passenger in the Volvo, 83-year-old Irene Karam of New Hampshire and 62-year-old Patricia Knauer of Florida.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Detective Unit for Worcester County, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. Troopers were assisted on scene by Sturbridge Fire and EMS, Southbridge Fire, MassDOT, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
